It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother. Mary Alice Doherty, a beloved wife, mother, aunt, nana, and friend. Mary departed from this world on July 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 24, 1937 in New York, Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years Daniel Malachy Doherty who passed away June 17, 2012. Their legacy continues with their children Mary (Severino) Fasulo, Tara (Brian) Roberts, John, Daniel (Charla) Kevin (Tammy), Michael (Tricia), and 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild whom she adored and who adored her. Raised in Elmhurst, Queens in a family of eight she is also survived by one of her brothers William (Willie) Browne and her loving sisters in laws. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Margaret (Peggy) and her brothers John (Jackie), Michael (Mikey), Daniel (Danny), Matthew (Matty), and Thomas (Tommy). She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
While she loved to keep busy outdoors and be with her beloved Danny her favorite thing was watching her children and then her grandchildren grow, thrive, and compete at their sporting events. Mom loved to be surrounded by her family and she always had a smile and taught us to face life’s challenges with strength, courage, and resiliency. Her faith was an integral part of her life as she had unwavering trust in God’s plan for her and her family.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 18, 2021, from 4-8 pm at Massapequa Funeral Home, 1050 Park Boulevard, Massapequa Park, NY, 11762. Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Wednesday, July 19 at 10:45 am at Our Lady of Lourdes, 855 Carmans Rd., Massapequa Park, NY, 11762. Interment will follow at St. Charles / Resurrection Cemeteries, 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (at Alzheimer’s Association | Donate to Fight Alzheimer’s Disease) or
