Mary Rose Guerra, who loved to be called “Nana” by her five beautiful granddaughters departed surrounded by family on December 17, 2022 at the age of 92.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 12, 1930 to James and Josephine Castiglione. Known as “Tina” to her friends, she grew up in Brooklyn and later worked in Manhattan as a secretary.
Mary Castiglione married John Thomas Guerra in 1960 and moved to Massapequa, where they resided for nearly 60 years. She was the mother to three wonderful children, Anthony, James and Lisa, and she raised her children with love and devotion with her husband John.
Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word find and watching Jeopardy. She always had a wonderful smile, a kind comment and boundless one liners that will be remembered by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, John, her sister Louise Felicetta, her children Anthony Guerra, James Guerra (wife Julie), and Lisa Russell (husband Randy), as well as her five loving granddaughters, Jillian, Lauren, Caroline, Elle and Katie.
Reposing at the North Chapel of Massapequa Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 20th from 3-7pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. William the Abbot R. C. Church on Wednesday, December 21st at 10:45am. Entombment at St. Charles Cemetery.
