With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Maryann K. Hayes of Fort Myers, Florida, who passed away on December 26, 2022 at the age of 93.

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Richard P Hayes; her parents, Michael Palermo and Katherine Maiorana Palermo; and her siblings, Vincent and Angela.  She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Georg) and Susan (late Stephen Piorkowski); her granddaughter Katherine; and her brother Martin.

Maryann was a devoted member of the Miraculous Medal Society and St. Jude. She loved to bake her famous pies for the holidays and sit back to watch everyone enjoy them. She was proud to be the wife of a NYPD Lt and told stories about life with a police officer. She spoke her mind without hesitation and called Washington DC on a regular basis. She worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard at 16 yrs old and was so very honored to serve her country in any way she could. She adored her granddaughter, loved dogs, and yes she loved her daughters too. They called her Mary-baby when they saw her which was so much fun. That alone could lighten the room. We were fortunate to have her in our lives for such a long time. She will be missed.
