I do not have memories before Mary Ellen and the rest of the Klaus family came into my life. It is fitting that the beautiful picture of her in this obituary is one of her holding Jaclyn in her Massapequa Soccer jersey, as some of my first memories are going to those games coached by my father and Dennis. I vividly remember Mary Ellen rounding the Lockhart fields with the Klaus family golden while playing with Brian and Ben Sklar (who I don't think liked me much at the time). From that time on I have a lifetime full of Notre Dame vacations, Schmo Bowls, weddings, and parties on Boston Ave that I look back on with happiness and tear filled eyes. She raised a son that is the best person I know, and I am forever grateful for all the joy Mary Ellen and the rest of her family have brought and continue to bring into my life.
