Uncle Bobby I have such fond memories of you over the years. All the family parties when all the Basedow brother's were together the joking, teasing, laughter and love was abundant. Depended which niece would be teased on any given day but it was always in fun. We had a special bond I loved receiving my birthday card and call each year. You always made my day!! The last time I saw you which was well before COVID, Joanne, Diane, you and I had such a nice visit with some laughs, jokes and tears. You can now rest peacefully. I love you Uncle Bobby and you will be missed.

I remember Uncle Bob with love and joy -- memories of barbecues in the back yard at 129th Street and other family gatherings. It was always fun to come to your house. You are in my prayers. May you be welcomed into your new home in the Kingdom of God. We seem to give them back to you, O God, who gave them to us. Yet as you did not lose them in giving, so we do not lose them by their return. Not as the world gives, do you give, O Lover of souls. What you give, you do not take away, for, what is yours is ours also, if we are yours. And life is eternal and love is immortal and death is only an horizon and an horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight … Lift us up, strong Son of God, that we may see further; cleanse our eyes that we may see more clearly; draw us closer to yourself that we may know ourselves to be nearer to our loved ones who are with you. And while you prepare a place for us, prepare us also for that happy place, that where you are we may be also forevermore. R. Amen (Prayer of Fr. Bede Jarrett, o.p.)

Dad, rest easy now. No more pain or suffering. I love you and I want you to know, that I was always proud to be your son and to have you as my dad. I will always cherish the memories we shared together such as, going fishing on Crossbay bridge, putting together model trains during Christmas, bowling, and mostly, when you came home from work one day, and surprised me with a Baseball glove and 2 tickets to my first Met game. I will definitely miss not being able to call you anymore with questions about how to make a repair on my car or home. Thank you for the memories. I will treasure them forever. Rest in peace. Love always you son Robert.

Dad it’s been such a long, hard journey for you. No more pain now, no more suffering, no more confusion. You fought a hard fight to the very end. I remember asking you just the other day how do you feel and you didn’t miss a beat, as you responded that you feel with your hands. Always the jokester. Thank you for all that you did for our family. Words cannot express how much I miss you and love you. Thank you for having so much trust in me in being a part of your caregiving. It was truly an honor and a privilege to be there for you when you needed me the most. Again, I love you so. I will always remember what you taught and sang to us often: “Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so; Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong. Yes Jesus loves me.” Love you forever.
