Ron was loved deeply by his family, friends and colleagues. I am so saddened to hear the news of Ron's passing. I worked with Ron in MBTS for seven years and want to share what a truly kind and thoughtful man he was. He always looked to find a peaceful solution to any challenge and was forever hopeful. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Rest in peace Ron.

Mastro was one of my first friends at AECOM. He had the friendliest and warmest energy and made me feel welcome and appreciated. We shared many laughs and he was already ready to chat about cigars and golf. He made work so much more enjoyable and I am grateful for the memories I have with him. He was one of one and will be missed dearly.

I worked with Ron for 36 years at Metcalf & Eddy/AECOM. We shared many laughs over the years - the lunch time stories were the best. My fondest memories of Ron will be of our time together in Alexandria, Egypt where he contributed his skills as part of the program management team to deliver a much needed infrastructure project benefitting millions of people. To our children - Lindsay and James - Ron was "Uncle Ron". He was always greeted with hugs and laughter when he would arrive for the weekly project team dinners. I was so pleased he was able to join us for my retirement dinner last fall - and true to form, Ron made our wine selections for the table. Ron was a joyful person, we will all miss him greatly, and I will make a silent toast in his memory every time I sip a nice Pinot Noir.

Condolences to Ron's family and friends, he will be immensely missed. I had the opportunity to work with Ron over several years virtually when he supported our Winnipeg office. His kindness and humor were appreciated while we worked through several projects with his estimating skills.

What can I say to properly acknowledge him? I had started my first job out of college and was paired with Ron to conduct a task that both of us were way over-qualified for. In it, I was exposed to his smart-silly sense of humor, his quirks (hated traveling down streets with too many traffic lights), his sharp intellect and his unfiltered opinions. Starting as work friends and then hanging out and even traveling together, a small group of us became our version of Seinfeld. We knew his quips and copied some mannerisms (taking air notes, using air film camera). He would hear a remark that he found humor in, and then turn it back on the person saying it with an adjustment that made it funny, giving us that ‘look’ and then the wink and laugh. Wine tastings (sneaking out of tastings with concealed bottles), birthday dinners, beach outings, film making (yes I made a short film starring him), weekend travel, hanging out. Just hanging out. Talking about everything and nothing. He was a rare bird. One of less than a handful of people whose chance connection I made with him resulted in a major course change in my life. So many things came out of that meeting. I think of him as my linchpin. He didn’t set out to do that, it just happened. We lost touch for several years due to circumstances beyond my control, but when he came back it was like he never left. He served as chair of the planning board because he wanted to open up the town, make it less insular. He stayed at AECOM, he said, for the camaraderie. Some comments: “Some blonde’s looking for you” “Boiling wine collection “ “Mule head” “I’m in a cat hair bed” Ron brought out the kid in me, and I’ll miss that. I miss him already -

I liked Ron the moment I met him, somewhere around 18 years ago. He was a pleasure to work with. We discussed sports often and he, most recently, was very supportive of my effort to build a kids clubhouse on my property, often asking for status updates on the project. He will definitely be missed by the AECOM team he worked with for so long.

Ron was one of the nicest and most entertaining personalities I've ever met. Got to enjoy his smile, wit and banter in my years with M&E here in the U.S. and Egypt. Memories of the Softball years and the patented Mastro pitching backspin (spin-to-win) with ballet-style pitch-kick; his entertaining comparisons banter over Cigars and Scotch in Cairo/Alexandria; and working with Ron was always a pleasure. Always a Master of ceremonies no matter what the occasion. So much to miss about Ron. Condolences to family. Memories of Ron will live forever.

Ron was a really good guy. He gave unselfishly to the Town of Manchester by the Sea, in serving on a number of boards and commissions, including as chairman of the Planning Board. In conducting these meetings, he was fair, even keeled (even in the most frustrating of circumstances) and worked diligently towards a good result. He had a wealth of knowledge, from engineering to wines to an exotic collection of clocks. I'm glad our paths crossed, even for a short period of time. He will be missed.
