It is with tremendous sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosemarie Verdirame. After suffering for 6 months with a devastating diagnosis, she passed away peacefully at Stonybrook hospital with her daughters, sister, close friend and nephew at her bedside in her final days.
Rosemarie was born in Ozone Park, Queens and attended St. Mary Gate of Heaven, John Adams HS and ultimately graduated from Andrew Jackson HS in Queens Village. From there she began a career as a secretary for an insurance company in the financial district of Manhattan before getting married and raising her family in Massapequa. She enjoyed cooking for her family while listening to her Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Dean Martin tunes playing in the background. She also enjoyed many travels with friends and family as well as shopping, dancing and getting dressed up too. She was a vibrant, upbeat person with a love for life and always loved to see you.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bart, her two daughters Laurie Zaneski and Christine Campise, her son in law Daniel Zaneski and her five beloved grandchildren: Nicholas, Madeline, Sienna, Marissa and Juliette. She is also survived by her sister Gloria Jackson, sister in law Johanna Varvaro and husband Paul, many close friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her parents John and Emma Simone and her brother in law Robert Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations made in her name to the ALS Association of Greater NY.
