Salvatore A. Cigna, D.D.S. 65, formerly of Hopewell Junction NY, passed away peacefully at his home in Massapequa, NY on February 1, 2024.
Born in Brooklyn on May 16, 1958 to Antonina and Joseph Cigna, who predeceased him; Sal made his life in Dutchess County, NY for 32 years where he married, raised a family and was a highly esteemed orthodontist in private practice, Cigna Orthodontics, Hopewell Junction NY. Sal attended Brooklyn College of Pharmacy, Case Western Reserve University Dental School and completed his residency in Orthodontics at Farleigh Dickinson University Dental School in 1987.
A true outdoorsman, he passed his love of boating, fishing, skiing ,lake life and golf to his 4 sons. As a family, the 6 of them regularly enjoyed these activities together. Sal was known as a man of strong work ethic , intense and with high expectations of himself. While he worked very hard, Sal also made time to enjoy life. He and his wife RoseAnn enjoyed weekly “dinner dates” throughout their marriage, weekends away to their Vermont home and traveling.
Sal is survived by his wife RoseAnn, their sons Alexander, Julius (Anna), Marcus, Joseph , granddaughter Camila Rose, brother Charles (Bici), in- laws (Paula and Paul Salvo, Steven and Lisa Salvo, Olga Salvo) , numerous nieces, nephews and friends , notably John Lutfy , Joseph Visci , his ski buddy , friend and colleague Dr. John Sorrentino, and Dr. Ira Stier, with whom he shared his love of boating and dentistry.
Salvatore will be laid to rest at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Old Westbury NY
