Salvatore Alongi beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2023 at the age of 88. Sal was born to Pietro and Magdalena on February 27, 1935.

He is survived by his three loving sons, Peter (Breena), Craig (Donna), and Michael and his six grandchildren Meridi, Hallie, David, Danielle, Michael, and Leon. Sal’s journey began in Villarosa Sicily a small town outside of Palermo. He Migrated to the U.S at the age of 13 and resided in Brooklyn New York where he eventually met and married the love of his life Josephine in 1964 and was married for 49 years. Sal’s passion for cooking was evident in the homemade dishes he lovingly prepared. Sal enjoyed the food industry from inside and out, everything from being a professional butcher to eating in restaurants. Sal also took great pleasure in watching many sporting events. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the long life he lived.

He was my favorite uncle. Very classy and always spoke properly to me. I used to pick up the "Daily Mirror" for him every Sunday when i was 8 years old. He took me everywhere with him. I even attended his wedding reception when i was 9 because my mom (his sister Michelina Giannone) couldnt make it. He was my sponsor for my confirmation (he gave me a nice watch) My confirmation name is for him. He took me to my first Mets game May 27 1969, bought me the Mets Year book. Mets lost that game but the following day went on their first ever 11 game winning streak while they went on to win their first World Series ever. I worked for him in his Butcher shop on Northern Blvd and again in Rego park. Thank you so much for many wonderful memories, Uncle Sal. You will be missed Love Charlie
