Carmen “Sonny” DeMeo passed away suddenly on Tuesday November 1, 2022. Sonny was
born in Brooklyn, New York and was the eldest of four (4) children, all of whom preceded him in
death. He was a loving husband for 70 years to Barbara DeMeo. He is survived by his two (2)
children Marlena DeMeo Leung (Denis Leung), NY and Dr. Gregory DeMeo (Kate DeMeo), DE.
Sonny is also survived by his four (4) grandchildren and two (2) great grandchildren.
Sonny’s professional career reflected his passion, as he proudly worked in the automotive
industry until retirement. He was an avid baseball fan, especially for the Mets and the Yankees,
and had a great love for food, both Chinese and Italian.
To know him was to love him, whether you were his family, friend, client, waitress at the diner,
or the wonderful caregivers who served him in his later life, he always had something to share
that would make you smile. Sonny had a personality that could light up a room and he will be
remembered as a wonderful and loving father, grandfather, friend, and family member.
Sonny lived a full and wonderful 91 years. Known as the man who had nine lives, he often faced
medical uncertainty with amazing optimism and a spirit that never gave up. Sonny had a
genuine, loving soul and will be missed deeply from all whom had the pleasure to know him.
