I woke up this morning thinking of Mr. Piorkowski, who somehow figured prominently in my dream. He was my English teacher in 8th and 9th grades at JHS 189 in Flushing, NY. He was the best teacher I ever had. All his students admired and respected him. He was an uncommonly generous man who inspired students to unprecedented heights. When I became a middle school teacher, my memory of Mr. Piorkowski played no small part in the decision. I hope that he and his family knew how important and enduring were his contributions to impressionable children.

Laura,I am so sorry for your loss. You have always been there for me and my family and it saddens me that I will not be present during your time of grievance. Stephen was always so pleasant to speak with and be around. He will be missed.
